Gray clouds drizzle
for rizzle
the white blankets give way
to the seasons follies
where the black dog roams
so does the shrew
concealed in layers
we put them on
to protect the inside places
exposure is for summer
when vulnerability leads to warming
for now solace is found
in the bottom of a glass
amber label of red
feeding brain and heart
soothing toe to heel
fingers reach out for the real
