Dreams That Haunt and Inspire

landscapes stretching dark and distant
cityscape waterparks
clear water chlorine blast
oil lights and candle glow
illusions
remind refugee residents
of the way life once was
brands and cans of
of spray on tan
structures of thrills driven
into some land
opossum snarls and
Cephalopod soldiers
grotesque and prominent
wait, but a tentacles reach away
when the going gets tough
the tough get richer
crust punks spewing hope
onto sidewalks dusted
with the earliest light of day
which way will you go

Polar Bear Popscicle

wave lap rain tap
slishing tires move past
as do memories of past life wonders
giggling gleam off water pristine
rocks that touch the high heat of summer
also feel the cold dark of ocean bottom
all aspects prospects and possibilities
swirling as the tide moves in
the next cycle is imminent
fingers rap upon wood upon water
mantras allow for no plan to falter
sometimes
it's important
to take the long way around

Fishstick Fiddleheads

following the pink marker
roadside reminder
clouds ease over another week
the past is screaming out to the present
loud and resonate
and quiet as a peeper in the desert
a figure is dead
the new thing in this species' head
remembering to forget
new circumstance linked with past horror
do not forget to remember
earth shaking poison leaking
wind whips rips roots
and one tiny bird, nestled amongst it all
